Well, she is home. The official diagnosis is choke but, just like Miss, there seems to be something other than inflammation in the distal esophagus near the thoracic inlet. She may not graze or have hay for 5 days but is allowed gruel... After that she will be allowed to graze with hay introduced VERY CAREFULLY.
Her homecoming was something to behold. As soon as she stepped off the trailer and saw where she was she was dragging Cassidy to the barn. All the ladies were excited to see her. There was nose touching and chortling all around.

Poor Jamra. She will be coming home today but during the brief conversation I had with the doc, it looks like she has a "personal obstruction," not choke. I gather that means a tumor or some other weird narrowing of the esophagus.
I get all the real details this afternoon.

Well, Jamra's at Hagyard. My vet couldn't clear her here. The plan was take her in, get her clear and bring her right home... then when we got there the doc on duty said she doesn't think it was choke but some other obstruction. There was lots of blood and a suggestion that I leave her for a scope... so I did.
I'll know more this morning, and she will come home as soon as I get out of work. I'm even driving the trailer to school today.

Jamra is ill today. She was fine at the 2 a.m. check (Whitney is about to foal), but this morning at breakfast she was standing with her head down. It looks like another choke. We are trying to clear it here.
I think everything will be fine but I need to look for a new recipe.

Announcing the arrival of Timeless Sue!
Timeless Sue arrived yesterday at 5 p.m. and was greeted by a barn full of warm nickers. Sue is 26 years old and looks/acts like she is 5. Her owner Mary Marshall is a freelance writer and has most recently been working for the Thoroughbred Times.
I am waiting for a bio but I believe Sue won $100,000+ "the hard way" and is grand dam to millionaire Bourbon Belle.
